Yea MARC Literary Festivals

Following the devastating bushfires which Victoria suffered in February 2009, illustrator/author Mark Wilson, with wonderful Yea MARC Van librarian Libby Ahern, gathered a band of children’s authors and illustrators together to run annual MARC Festivals in schools around the Buxton and Flowerdale areas. These schools hosted surrounding schools such as Taggerty, Marysville and Merrijig.

At each of these six festivals we were always greeted warmly by students, staff and the host schools with special thanks going to Lyn and Shelley  who along with Libby made sure we were well looked after and fed wonderful country food. We talked children’s books, art, read stories, played games and explained why we love doing what we do and hopefully some of this will influence these country kids to take hold of books, reading and art and run with them.
