Visit to Eildon Primary School – Merrijig MARC Van
Back in 2010, following the 2009 devastating bushfires in Victoria, a group of children’s book authors and illustrators including myself, made our first visit to some of the schools which had been affected by the unflinching fires.
Under the superb guidance of MARC Van Librarian, Libby Ahern and with the capable assistance of Lyn Pope, author/illustrator Mark Wilson led the group of illustrator Marjory Gardner, author Diana Lawrenson, author Claire Saxby and myself offering presentations and workshops to children in these outlying Victorian country areas.
Last Friday, Mark, Marjory, Claire and myself headed off again for presentation/workshop number 9, only over the years it’s become quite a literary festival. This year it was Eildon Primary School’s turn to host (the schools in the used to be Yea but now Merrijig MARC van area alternate).
It’s one of our favourite school visits of the year and we always look forward to the country caring and hospitality and of course there is always a big pot of bubbling hot soup waiting for us.
Here are some wonderful photo memories.
