Subbie and his mate showcased this weekend at Dromkeen Art Gallery & at the Hawthorn Makers Market
With Melbourne Cup Day just around the corner, this weekend I’ll be out reading, talking about and selling copies of Subbie and his mate, a book which is very close to my heart.
Although I read draft number 4 to Subbie in his paddock and to his beloved master, Graham Salisbury, neither of them saw the finished book, beautifully illustrated by Mark Wilson and published by Ford Street Publishing.
October 6 saw the unveiling of the Salisbury Subzero Memorial Rose Garden at Flemington Racecourse, where a plaque pays tribute to both Subbie and Graham. Their ashes lie beneath.
On Saturday, November 4 at 2.00 p.m. I’ll be reading Subbie and his mate in the beautiful Dromkeen Gallery, 1012 Kilmore Road, Riddells Creek. There will also be a craft activity following the reading. If you’d like to come along, rsvp [email protected]
On Sunday, November 5 from 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. I’ll be at the Hawthorn Makers Market at Hawthorn Town Hall with Marjory Gardner. I’ll be selling a selection of my books, including Subbie and his mate & Lionel and Me and Marjory will have her gorgeous brooches and Christmas decorations for sale.
