Showcasing Children’s Author, Julie Murphy and her brand new book – Tiny Possum and the Migrating Moths
I first met Julie when she joined SCBWI and came along to one of our afternoon gatherings in Melbourne, way back when I was the SCBWI Coordinator for Victoria and our meetings were held at Di Mattina’s in Carlton. Always quiet and unassuming, Julie’s training as a zoologist and zookeeper is what steers her writing passion and choice of subjects for her books.
Julie’s latest release, only a few days ago, on November 1, (congratulations Julie) is Tiny Possum and the Migrating Moths, illustrated by Ben Clifford and published by CSIRO Publishing.
‘High in the Australian Alps, Possum needs to find enough food and shelter to survive the harsh alpine winter. She will spend months hibernating under a blanket of snow. Will she last through the year to successfully raise a new family?’

Julie has been a children’s book author for more than twenty years and says she writes ‘because it’s fun!’ Due to her background, her main interests are animals and the environment and she hopes her young readers will become curious about nature and the environment after reading her books.
