Showcasing Adelaide children’s author and friend Janeen Brian

Janeen and I first met when we shared a bunk room at a children’s writing and illustrating conference at John Marsden’s Tye Estate back in 2005. I remember our first discussion in our shared bunk-room – neither of us could sleep!

In the years since, Janeen and I have caught up in both Melbourne and Adelaide, including me launching Janeen’s beautiful book, Too Tight Benito! illustrated by Judith Rossell and published by Little Hare in 2008  and Janeen launching my  Bob the Railway Dog, illustrated by Andrew McLean and published by Walker Books Australia at the National Railway Museum in 2015.

Janeen has published a huge amount of beautiful children’s books including picture books, novels, junior fiction, non-fiction and poetry. She has also won and been shortlisted many times for her work, most recently winning the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award for age birth to 3 years for

Look, Baby! illustrated by Renee Treml published by Little Book Press

Her book, I’m a Dirty Dinosaur, illustrated by Ann James, and published by Puffin, was an Honour Book in the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Years Awards in 2014 and is one of my grandson’s favourites.

Janeen is a regular social media contributor on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and I marvel at her huge collection of published work.

You can read more about Janeen, her accomplishments and her books on her website https://janeenbrian.com.au/ and follow her on social media.
