Promise of Spring and Winter Roses

I posted a photo of daffodils on social media yesterday and noticed I got lots of ‘likes’ – almost as many as the baby photos – but not quite. Some of the comments made me think how much we are all looking forward to Spring, warmer days and better times. Wordsworth’s ‘Daffodils’ is also, my favourite poem.

Today it was a beautiful sunny but crisp winter afternoon in Melbourne and the flowers were out, in all their glory. Some hints of spring and early arrivals, some winter natives, winter roses, sasanqua camellias, which my mum used to call Flutterby Camellias (much nicer), wattle, a silver princess and pale pink orchids. The photos were all taken on my afternoon walk where I also stopped at a park and read my latest story out loud to the trees. Always a good feeling when it gets to this stage.
So here’s some colour and sunshine.
