National Bookshop Day at Dymocks Melbourne and Fairfield Bookshop

Last Saturday was National Bookshop Day – a day where bookshops celebrated books, authors, illustrators and children. I was lucky enough to be invited to read to a young audience at Dymocks Bookshop in Central Melbourne where visiting creators were welcomed by an array of costumed characters from the Melbourne Costume Company and well looked after by Dymocks Staff. I shared some stories and games with my young audience which was a lot of fun.

I then raced across town to the Fairfield Bookshop, a wonderfully welcoming bookshop tucked away in Station Street, Fairfield (not far from the Library). Fellow authors Carole Wilkinson, Michael Pryor (and myself ) spoke to bookshop customers and passers by, bracing the cold but warmed by the books, smiles and booky conversation.
