My next book
9 Aug, 2017 | What's happening in my writing life
The advance copy of my next book arrived on the doorstep today. It began with a white express van pulling into the driveway and a delivery man stepping to the door, special envelope in hand.I resisted the temptation to immediately rip open the envelope and instead placed it on the table and let it sit there for a while, waiting. Each time I passed it I had another look at the envelope. Yes, it was still there.Dragging out the anticipation to the last possible moment, is usually what I do. After such a long journey from idea, to research, to manuscript drafts and rewrites, the excitement of proposed publication and watching words come to life in the illustrations, I like to delay the joy just a little longer and pick the perfect moment to sit quietly and enjoy the first glimpse. After an hour of passing, backwards and forwards, I did attack the envelope, then before even opening it,
I glanced at the clock. An appointment . . . I had to go!At 3.00 p.m. I began this blog post while sitting at the hairdresser for a much needed hair restoration and then the book was still waiting for me on the table at home, still unopened.
Now it’s 7.30 p.m., I’m home and hopefully tonight I’ll get the chance to sit and take time to enjoy turning the pages and savouring the first read.
And the book? …… A certain little white dog just might be back to share another adventure.
The Launch date is set for Saturday October 7 at Collins Booksellers, Main Street, Croydon with Storytimes at Dymocks Doncaster on September 30 , Dymocks Eastland October 14, at The Little Bookroom on October 15 and at the Whitehorse Manningham Libraries “Heart of the Community” Open Day in Warrandyte on October 28.
Now to looking at the book.
