My Author Week – book-related celebrations

I’m still catching up after my month away in October but this week I attended three very enjoyable book-related celebrations:

Launch of Writing on the Wall – Anthology – Canterbury Girls’ SC

Last Wednesday evening I had the privilege of speaking to the students who were involved with the creation of an anthology of short stories and poems at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College. Some students were part of the editorial team, who, under the guidance of their Principal, Mary Cannon, produced a professional and impressive publication entitled Writing on the Wall. It was a pleasure to launch and such a lovely evening. The students who produced and wrote for the anthology were rightfully proud of the book.

Literary Festival for Merrijig MARC Van at Marysville PS

On Friday Mark Wilson, Marjory Gardner, Claire Saxby and myself visited Marysville PS for the annual Merrijig Literary Festival this year hosted by Marysville PS. Other schools attending were Buxton PS students as well as Eildon PS students. As always we had a lovely day spent with the students – seeing Marysville moving on now was also wonderful.

Young Australian Art & Writers’ Awards

Saturday night, along with many other creators of children’s books, I attended the Children’s Charity Network, Young Australian Art & Writers’ Awards for 2019. It’s always wonderful to see young creators supported and encouraged by these awards which are run annually. Volunteers and sponsors are many and it’s lovely to see the work of talented students in writing, painting/drawing, computer art and photography.
