Mobile Library Visit

Every Wednesday morning, unless there is something urgent that calls me away from home, I treat myself to one of my very favourite weekly activities – a visit to the Yarra Plenty Mobile Library.

To do this, I walk down the back steps, into our garden, up our neighbours’ gravely driveway, then a few minutes amble along the crumbling asphalt, before I arrive at the mobile library which sits waiting from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 outside the community centre and pre-school every Wednesday.

I usually spend the next 30 minutes or so, losing myself in the children’s section, leafing through newly purchased picture books and revisiting  old favourites before clutching my borrowed pile of books and returning by the same gravely driveway, the speed of the return journey limited only by the amount of books I am juggling.

Today’s haul includes some new ones, some books written by friends and a dvd of ‘Because of Winn-Dixie’, the book version written by one of my favourite children’s authors, Kate DiCamillo.

Trish Trchala I love the way you described your visit to the mobile library. On a number of occasions I have been asked to run story time sessions on the bus which has been such a lovely and unique experience. This is such a wonderful service for those that have limited access to a local library. Hope you enjoy your bundle of books!

christinemareebell I love the excitement of bringing home a new pile of library books and the thrill of "which one will I read first?!"
