Meet . . . Don Bradman book launch
This morning I attended the launch of Meet . . . Don Bradman a new book Written by Coral Vass, Illustrated by Brad Howe and Published by Random House which was held in the Library of the wonderful MCG.
The library was full of excited children, their mums and dads and both booky and non-booky friends there to support Coral. The book was launched by tv personality, Livinia Nixon who gave a wonderful launch speech. Coral responded and then read the book to a totally engaged audience.
Leesa from The Little Bookroom was bookseller and Coral signed many copies of her book which is part of a The Meet series of picture books which celebrate Australian History. Other books in the series include Meet . . .The Anzacs by Claire Saxby & Max Berry and Meet . . . Mary MacKillop by Sally Murphy & Sonia Martinez.
Afterwards, for a change of scenery our writing group met in The Paddock Cafe to workshop some manuscripts and what a privilege it was to workshop in such a unique place. There is something about the MCG, especially when you can gaze uninterrupted upon that flat patch of green.
It was the perfect venue for such a launch and I’m sure ‘The Don’ was watching.
