Lionel and Me – Illustrated by Tracie Grimwood, Published by New Frontier Publishing
For creators, the most exciting days are the ones when a box of advance copies of a new book arrives at the front door.
Every book is special, in its own way, and although this story is largely a work of fiction, the characters are my son and daughter-in-law’s much-loved family dogs, Maverick the wise and lovable golden retriever and Lionel, the naughty and quite mischievous mini dachshund . . . but also lovable in his own right.
Maverick has been part of our lives for 11 years. He already has a book dedicated to him, Chasing Shadows (2014) but Maverick is the narrator in Lionel and Me and he does have an important tale to tell, about friendship and kindness.
I will be joining a number of wonderful authors at Dymocks Bookshop, Camberwell, First Tuesday Book Club, on June 7 to talk about our latest books – I’ll be sharing some background about Subbie and his mate and Lionel and Me at 6.15 p.m. Go to the Dymocks Camberwell website to book. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/first-tuesday-book-club-june-2022-with-special-guest-authors-tickets-332509293247
Release date is June 1st and the book will be launched on Saturday, July 2 at 11.00 a.m. at Collins Booksellers in Main Street, Croydon. If you’d like to receive an invitation closer to the time, please let me know – [email protected]
And of course, Maverick, Lionel and Harry the Collins Croydon bookshop/Myer Windows dog, will all be attending – as well as your own well-behaved dog/s if you’d like to bring them.
