Junior Library Guild Selection for Bob the Railway Dog

It’s always lovely to receive a special package in the mail – somehow nicer than online – and yesterday was one of those days.

A parcel arrived in my letterbox from Candlewick Press and inside was an awards packet from the Junior Library Guild in the US naming the US edition of Bob the Railway Dog as ‘A Junior Library Guild Selection’ for spring 2017.

Bob the Railway Dog was a wonderful book to research, write and work on with Maryann Ballantyne, Publisher at Black Dog Books (an imprint of Walker Books Australia) and with gifted illustrator, Andrew McLean. As with all of my books, research plays a major part and before I started writing I traveled to many of the places Bob journeyed to.

And it’s been very exciting to learn that Bob the Railway Dog – in book form – will also now be traveling into both US and Canadian schools.

Celebrating the launches.
