Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards 2014

As mentioned in previous posts, I’m honoured to be the judge for the Junior Categories of the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards for 2014 and 2015 with fellow author Nette Hilton who is judging the Senior Categories. Although we have received hundreds of wonderful entries, we have been told to expect several thousand . . . and these all by the end of June, which is just over a month away.

I’m trying to be disciplined by checking the site every evening to stay on top of submissions, because I have this uneasy feeling (paranoid fear) that if I miss a day or two, there are going to be thousands of wonderful words from students there waiting for me.

So for those students who might still be intending to send in a poem, please do it soon because entries close on June 30.

Details on how to enter are here:  http://www.dorothea.com.au/index.php/awards/how-to-enter/

christinemareebell Judging these awards sounds a joy, as well as a big input on behalf of the judges - 1000s of entries, wow, Corinne. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the remaining entries keep coming in a consistent flow and not a last minute deluge. :) Chris
