Dorothea Mackellar Judging Time
9 Jul, 2014 | What's happening in my writing life
Tonight I can see the light at the end of the poetry tunnel . . . just. I have spent the last few days reading, re-reading, checking my shortlists then finally separating the shortlisted poems into Commended, Highly Commended, Runners Up and Winner over both Upper Primary, Lower Primary and Learning Assistance and Special Education Primary. So many of the beautiful poems blew me away and it was so hard to choose the ones which will receive awards.
All up I have read 4847 poems from Australia’s wonderful poetry students. I see poetry when I close my eyes and rhyme is singing in my head but it has been wonderful.
