Christmas Preparation

It’s Christmas preparation time, so no writing this week, not even a signing. It’s time to slow down and celebrate with family and friends, share good times, remember long ago Christmases and make new memories.

I was cooking madly today and preparing for the big day – it’s at our house this year. The marzipan oranges are made and painted for decorating the Christmas cake, the walls and roof were melted and moulded for the chocolate house (just not assembled yet) and rum balls and mini puddings are waiting and ready to be eaten with coffee.

Our little Christmas Tree has special memories and this year is laden with decorations both old and new. Some are cherished from my childhood and some were given to me over the last few weeks, but each and every one of them is precious. Amongst them there’s a Queenie, a Little Dog (or two), even a caravan and a rocking horse, so my books are part of the tree as well.

And there’s a separate mini tree which my darling Mum used to return to the cupboard after each Christmas, complete with decorations and ready for the next Christmas. Now we do the same and it’s passed within our family to whoever’s home is hosting.

Merry Christmas to all and thank you for your support during the past year. I’ve taken some preparation photos, so work in progress shots. I’ll try and post the finished ones on Instagram and Facebook when they are ready.
