Children’s Charity Network Young Australian Art & Writers’ Awards, Strathmore Probus Club and St. James Paish Primary School Visit
(This is part 2 of this week’s blog post. Apologies for technical hiccups.)
Saturday night was the Children’s Charity Network Young Australian Art & Writers’ Award evening. We were surrounded by some very talented young students and I was lucky enough to share a table with this lovely young girl and her family.
Monday I visited the Strathmore Probus Club at Windy Hill and spoke to a large group of seniors, many of whom remembered fondly their ride on Queenie the elephant, as well as visiting Gundagai and the statue of The Dog on the Tuckerbox, as well as riding the horse I call Flame on the carousel at Luna Park.
On Wednesday I had the absolute privilege of being the first author or illustrator to be the ‘prize’ offered by the Children’s Book Council of Australia, Victorian Branch to visit the winning school – this year it was St. James Parish Primary School in Sebastopol (Ballarat). A great school with fantastic students and staff.
