Children’s Book Week – Awards announced Friday 16 August, 2019
Once again Children’s Book Week is on our doorstep with the Children’s Book Council of Australia announcing the winners and honour book awards for children’s books published in 2018.
2019’s theme is Reading is My Secret Power. Below is the link to the announcement:

A Cat Called Trim
For me, as I didn’t have a title published in 2018, the pressure is off and I can step happily into schools next week and the following one talking about the research, the writing and the promotion of A Cat Called Trim and my upcoming title (1st October) Scruffle-Nut.
But for my friends and fellow authors and illustrators, several of whom have been shortlisted, the pressure of Friday and the associated euphoria or disappointment is real as it also is for the announcement of the Notable List (CBCA longlist) in February and the Shortlist in March. The wait is always agonising and painful.
Packing for Children’s Book Week
So I am now packing, updating powerpoints, rehearsing my presentations, checking directions to schools and making sure I have everything packed for Children’s Book Week. It’s always such a privilege to meet librarians, teachers and students . . . our audience.
Although my talks will centre on A Cat Called Trim I will also have pleasure in introducing Scruffle-Nut.
