Children’s Book Week
This week has been exciting and huge. I visited 6 wonderful schools last week from Donvale, Kew, Rowville, Kew again, Geelong and Bendigo. I met so many wonderful students, librarians and teachers everywhere I went. This morning I flew to Tamworth where I was met by a wonderful Dorothea Mackellar Committee Member who drove me through to Gunnedah.
Nette Hilton, the judge for secondary categories and myself were treated to a High Tea at the wonderful Mackellar Motel and greeted warmly by school teachers, librarians and Dorothea Mackellar Committee Members. Tonight I am tucked up in bed as the next few days will be full of school visits, a special Dorothea Mackellar dinner tomorrow night before presentation day on Friday where Nette and I will meet all the young winners of these outstanding poetry awards.
This week I would like to say a special thank you to all those dedicated teachers and librarians out there who have made me feel so welcome and went through so much trouble to host me in their schools. Thank you.
