Book Launches

I’m lucky enough to be in the middle of organising book signings and launches, so I thought it might be a good topic to touch on for this week’s blog post.

For authors, illustrators, publishers and all those involved in the production of a book, this is a time to celebrate – for me it’s a time to rejoice that the ‘baby’ you first conceived with a single word on the page, has now been born and is out there for all to see.

For me it’s a time to gather with family and friends and spend a few hours with them, in a way showing the reason why you haven’t called as often, seen them as often or spent as much time with them for however long it has taken to get this new baby out there. (Sometimes it’s years!) And now before them is the reason for this, the ‘proof in the pudding’ and hopefully they will forgive you for being absent from their lives.

So, I believe all books should be launched – it doesn’t matter whether it’s a big or small event, but books need to be celebrated. My next launch will be for Chasing Shadows, illustrated by the wonderful new illustrator Hannah Sommerville and published by Ford Street. Launch details will be sent out soon, but if you’d like to come, please send me an email [email protected]
