Book Launch of My Friend Tertius at The Younger Sun Bookshop

Last Saturday we celebrated the launch of My Friend Tertius at the cosy and welcoming Younger Sun Bookshop in Yarraville – close to the old-fashioned Yarraville Station and across the road from the iconic Sun Theatre.

Illustrator, Owen Swan made the trip down from Sydney by train in honour of Arthur Cooper and Tertius. Michael Earp, The Younger Sun Bookshop Manager welcomed the crowd before Children’s Publishing Consultant, Karen Tayleur, officially launched the book.

My speech included thank you’s to many people who live far away (particularly the UK and America) but there wouldn’t have been a book, or celebration on Saturday without their help.

As I said in my speech, this book has taken me a decade, but now that I have it I can honestly say it’s worth all the effort.

Thank you Owen for illustrating, Allen & Unwin for publishing and Karen Tayleur for launching so beautifully and to everyone who came along on Saturday . . . and thank you Arthur Cooper and Tertius.

Thank you Anne Ryan and Juliet Sampson for the photos.

Corinne Fenton and sheer determination with a pinch of obsessiveness. Thanks KT for everything Tertius.

corinne Hi Jacqui, Thank you, it was a lovely launch. I must point out though that Tertius was a gibbon - smallest member of the ape family, therefore without a tail - so definitely not a monkey! I know I'll be saying this a lot. Thank you Corinne

corinne Thank you Jacqui for your kind words. One important point (and I keep telling school children) is that Tertius was a gibbon - the smallest member of the ape family, so definitely not a monkey. Thanks again. Corinne
