Bob the Railway Dog to be published in Azerbaijan

Sometimes it’s funny the way things happen.  I was recently at the Exhibition Buildings in Melbourne.   It is said Bob was a distinguished guest at the Melbourne Centennial International Exhibition there in 1888 (page 24 Bob the Railway Dog). As I walked by I was thinking about Bob, then I looked up and saw the most beautiful Border Collie sitting in a ute. She seemed anxious as she paced the tray so I walked over to have a chat and give her a pat. At first she was very pleased to see me, we enjoyed a cuddle and then she sat, eyes fixed to the north, obviously waiting for her master. She was not tied up in the ute and because she was alone I decided to stay with her for a while to keep her company. Her eyes followed every tall male who walked by but after about half an hour I had to leave her (I didn’t want to of course!)

When I arrived home I learned that Bob the Railway Dog, illustrated by Andrew McLean and published by Black Dog Books and written by me, is to be published in Azerbaijan, a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia bordering the Caspian Sea. Exciting to think that children will be reading about Bob the Railway Dog in a country so far away.
