Visit to St. Christopher’s Catholic PS Airport West

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking to the Prep Classes at St. Christopher’s Catholic PS in Airport West. The library was a warm, inviting place full of beautiful books, art and craft work created by the children and a special display of elephant books with ‘Queenie One Elephant’s Story’ as a feature.

I read the story to the children and I don’t believe I’ve ever spoken to a more well behaved and focused prep group. After we’d talked about what it’s like to be a writer, how long it takes me to write a picture book, how long it takes me to research, we all ambled around the library, just like Queenie, with trunks swinging and noisy trumpeting, accompanied to the tune of The Baby Elephant Walk.

As usual, I had a difficult time convincing the children that the Queenie cake isn’t ‘real’ and cannot be eaten.

  1. Chris Bell Oh, but, Corinne, that cake looks so yummy. I bet a few fingers dip and poke just to be sure you're not kidding. xx C

corinne It's the close-range 'sniffing' of the flowers which is a bit alarming.
